On November 18th, 2011, Kurt suffered a serious spinal injury while bodysurfing. The events that followed were nothing short of miraculous. We were traveling as a part of a large group for a friend's wedding. In that group were doctors, nurses, EMTs and helicopter pilots, all of whom proved invaluable for Kurt.
Kurt received spinal surgery late Friday night and has been recovering well ever since.
Now back in the states he will continue to work in rehab to regain movement on his right side and strength on his left.
This blog will follow the rest of Kurt's journey through rehab and beyond. Thank you to everyone who continues to keep Kurt in your thoughts and prayers. We will do our best to update this blog as often as possible.

Healing Power

As Kurt continues to progress, it's clear that he has some real angels on his side. The power of prayer has really proven to have an impact on Kurt's recovery. And, now that he's back in the states, he has another really powerful tool on his side...Connor!

Connor loves going to the hospital to visit Papou (Grandpa in Greek)! Connor has learned really helpful things, like pushing the wheel chair, adjusting Kurts bed, and, most importantly, giving lots of healing hugs and kisses.

Connor can't wait till Papou is all better. But in the meantime, he's having a blast visiting him at Scripps and, as standard with our little charmer, he's making lots of other friends along the way!
