On November 18th, 2011, Kurt suffered a serious spinal injury while bodysurfing. The events that followed were nothing short of miraculous. We were traveling as a part of a large group for a friend's wedding. In that group were doctors, nurses, EMTs and helicopter pilots, all of whom proved invaluable for Kurt.
Kurt received spinal surgery late Friday night and has been recovering well ever since.
Now back in the states he will continue to work in rehab to regain movement on his right side and strength on his left.
This blog will follow the rest of Kurt's journey through rehab and beyond. Thank you to everyone who continues to keep Kurt in your thoughts and prayers. We will do our best to update this blog as often as possible.

Home Sweet Home
Kurt met his deadline!!!! He was discharged today, and after some equipment adjustments we're settling into a nice routine at home. First order of business was New York Pizza...Nick and Margi are spending the night to help us adjust to our first night out of the hospital. Kurt will be going back to Scripps outpatient rehab 3 days a week to continue regaining his fine motor skills. We are so grateful for all the prayers that have brought us this far in this ordeal...Have a Merry Christmas and never take life for granted.
